Alpine and foreign cultures “Jenseits von Samarkand – Eine usbekische Liebesgeschichte”

Alpine and foreign cultures (), Lisa Eder, Thomas Wartmann (Deutschland/Germany) 44 min

Kodir Bekmurodow and his daughter Zümbüla live as nomads in yurts in the remote mountain region Boysun near the Afghan border, where they work for several months of the year as herdsmen and farmers. This film tells the story of Zümbüla, of her everyday life, of her dreams and desires, and, at the same time, it makes the unique world of Usbekistan traditions come to life.

Awards:
  • Kamera Alpin in Gold 2005

This film proves that even with a low budget a docu-drama can be produced in a very professional way. The accurate directorial work manages also to present the ethnic aspects in an unobtrusive way.
