The biodiversity in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park in Vietnam is impressive. Here, in the green spinney of this barely accessible region, animals and plants live which cannot be found elsewhere. Since the UNESCO has declared this park as a World Cultural Heritage, and since the park’s administration has proven that one can earn money with tourism, the protection of nature has been enhanced. No one knows this park as well as the locals, who up until then had made money from collecting unexploded landmines from the Vietnam War and poaching. Now they are trained as park rangers. There is an atmosphere of departure and the inhabitants of the national park area develop a new kind of relationship to nature.
