Redwoods: Anatomy of a Giant

John Rubin, James Donald (USA) - 50 min

Telling the story of the world’s tallest living trees, Redwoods: Anatomy of a Giant follows Humboldt State University’s Steve Sillett - the first researcher to explore the redwood canopy. To say that he likes redwoods is like saying Edmund Hillary was keen on mountains: Sillett is positively obsessed. And just when Sillett thinks he’s climbed and measured an unbeatably tall tree, another monster turns up in a hidden valley of California and breaks the record. As Sillett explores the redwood forest vertically, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Mike Fay charts the entire redwood range horizontally, step by step, on an epic year-long journey to get a sense of the past and future of the world’s most awe-inspiring living things.
