Far away from any roads and from the modern comforts, a few mountain farmers live their archaic life in the Romanian Carpathians. This hidden mountain village is called Obcina and can only be reached on foot. Here the Cut family lives: father, mother and son. The animals of the farmers guarantee their modest living and are often their only fortune. In winter, all inhabitants come down to the valley with all their goods and chattels, all of them, except for the Cut family. They hold out on their farm, in the bitter cold.
