Description
Africa is a continent with more than 50 states, populated by more than one billion of humans with countless, and partly very old cultures. The old salt caravan routes of the Tuareg are leading through the desert. Since For hundreds of years, Timbuktu in Mali has been the centre of the Sahara trading. In the hostile east of the land, at the rocks of the Bandiagara plateau, the Dogon people live, who are famous for their skilful wood carvings. The villages of the Batammariba are spread all over the savannah of West Africa, on the edge of the Atacora mountains. In their fortress-like houses they seal themselves off from the modern world. The Batammariba as well as the Dogon have a very particular relationship to the material clay, the earth. For them, earth is the origin of all kinds of life, and, at the same time, the place of the death. The earth carries the soul of the spirits of the ancestors.
