Description
The Swiss mountain guide Erhard Loretan was the second man who has climbed all 14 eight thousand meter peaks without using oxygen. He has climbed Mount Everest in less than 40 hours, on a direct line across the north face, without tent, but with a shovel, so that he would be able to dig a snow cave in the case of emergency. On his 52nd birthday, in April 2011, he fell to his death on a guided tour on the Swiss Grünhorn. This empathetic portray shows the outstanding performances of the great mountaineer Erhard Loretan and does not cut out the tragic moments in his life.

Lobende Erwähnung 2012

Building from interviews this film elicits powerful statements that use mountain climbing as ways of developing larger insight beyond mountaineering. This is a film about a great human being touching other humans.
