Description
Perfect powder, sun, mountains, fresh air and après-ski. Mass tourism has above all developed in the Alps, where it marks the landscape. The climate change and the resulting lack of snow requires a massive use of technology in order to be able to produce a perfect winter landscape independent from natural weather conditions. Today the area of the Alps has become a bizarre hybrid of technology and nature, which reflects at the same time our present time. “Peak” reveals what remains hidden under the artificial snow cover from the winter tourists. The film shows the changes in the landscape and the remaining traces of this impact. It questions the relationship between technology and nature.

Grand Prix Graz 2013

Peak hits us emotionally. The film shows us the effects of the global warming in the most popular tourist areas in the Alps. Skiing in the Alps will never be the same again after watching this important movie. In the film we see human beings doing their utmost to keep an industry intact by fabricating snow and an artificial environment. But nature will choose its own way. The fantastic camera work makes us feel, at the end, dirty. The style of the director is consistent. Even his message is very clear, he is not moralizing.
