Description
Moors are the last remains of a nature, which 10.000 years ago had covered vast surfaces of Europe. Today they offer numerous surprises. They are home to plants which devour animals and colourful mushrooms which suck dry plants. The courtship of the great snipes look like the dance of elves. The other, less known dwellers of the moor, just like the white-faced darter, the water rail and the many-plumed moth are fabulous. Aerial photographs give evidence that our moors are the last oases of wilderness in the cultivated landscape. However, they are endangered by exsiccation. This film shows the biodiversity of this hardly noticed living space, at the same time it is a silent plea to protect and to sustain the last moors.
