Description
The mountaineering legend Doug Scott, the mountain guide and extreme climber Sandy Allen, the mountaineering journalist Klaus Haselböck and the director of the Alpine Agency Bergspechte, Edi Koblmüller as well as the General Secretary of the Austrian Alpine Club Robert Renzler will discuss the developments in the current mountain sport world. During the last few years, mountaineering has become a popular sport. Whereas in the 1970ies expeditions to the base camp on Mount Everest were true logistical challenges, one can book this tour now as an all-inclusive holiday. On the ridge of the Großglockner or on the Matterhorn one has to queue up in order to get a chance to reach the summit, whereas on other near-by summits nothing happens. Today, the average amateur can be a better climber than some professionals have been some years ago. There is a global mass trend which causes a lot of changes. The question of guidance and ethics comes up. But will the freedom seeking mountaineers accept limits to their freedom?
