Description
He is the king of climbers among the mountain animals and a clever survivor in snow and ice. The ibex is the biggest animal that lives permanently in the higher mountain regions. In springtime the young kids are born, and within a short time they have to learn how to climb safely in steep rock faces, in order to survive the dangerous winter season. Because unlike the deer or the chamois, the ibex don’t come down to the protective forest regions, they stay in the rock region with its thunderous storms, where humans would not manage to survive one night without shelter. The famous mountain film maker Gerhard Baur has watched the ibex for more than a year in the Allgäu Mountains.
