Description
Sandy Allan’s climbing CV covers many outstanding peaks, amongst others Lhotse, Muztagh Tower, Everest and Eiger North face. In summer 2012 the Scottish mountain guide and his expedition partner Rick Allen were the first to reach the summit of Nanga Parbat via the Mazeno Ridge, the longest ridge on any 8000m peak and a real endurance challenge that many other leading climbers failed to accomplish. A staggering 13 kilometers from the Mazeno pass at 5,377m, the ridge is extremely committing and unescapable. This first ascent was honored with a Piolet d’Or in 2012. In his presentation Sandy Allan talks about this remarkable attempt.
