Description
The rich diversity of landscapes between the karst plateau, the steep rock faces and the glaciers of the Dachstein Massif, and the Lower Tauern mountain range with its crystalline structure and its numerous water sources is considerable. Also the fauna around Schladming reveals a fantastic biodiversity. Apart from the skiing slopes, not only chamois but also birch cocks, wood grouses and magnificent red deer find ideal living conditions. Rarely, however more often than one might think, also wolves come to the vast mountain forests and dark gorges of this region. In the crystal clear waters live primordial trout and tiny stone cray fish. The numerous lakes of the Lower Tauern form their own universe which reveals its secrets sometimes only under the microscope.
