For quite some time skiers were enjoying the powder in the backcountry, while snowboarders were stuck at the ski lift or had to follow the tracks of the skiers with snowshoes – a strenuous activity. With the improvement of splitboard systems snowboarders can now use skins to hike up mountains like skiers and are not left behind any more. And truth be told: riding a board in untouched powder is worth a good hike and some say even better than skiing.
