Starting point for this journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Places in northern Europe has been Germany’s northernmost point, the peninsula Ellenbogen in the north of Sylt, where Max Moor explains the living space of the Wadden Sea. From there he travels to the mighty walls of a monastery on the today uninhabited Irish island Skelling Michael. He continues to the Orkney Islands, a true paradise for archaeologists. Christianity once came to Norway on ships. Many villages were forced to build churches, one of the oldest is the stave church of Urnes. From Norway settlers went to Iceland, today Iceland’s history and geology can be seen in the Thingvellir National Park. The journey ends in Greenland, the mother country of the icebergs.
