The Tyrolean Anderl Gruber meets his first love, the Italian Francesca Calzolari. However, the First World War separates the young couple. Anderl has to serve at the killer front along the summits of the Dolomites, whereas Francesca is suddenly surrounded by enemies. The war invades the Province of Tyrol and changes the mountains into one of the most bizarre war location of history. High up in the rocky area, Anderl has to fight for his life and for his love.
