Water – its power and its destructiveness, its creative potential and its beauty: this film reveals the importance of this element for the Alps and for their inhabitants. It examines as well the question of why people are so fond of the water of the Alps, why they consider it a part of their homeland, although it often strikes them with extreme brutality. The meteorologist and glaciologist Norbert Span lets us experience the element of water from an uncommon perspective – that is, from his personal perspective as a son of a farmer from the Stubai Valley, as a dweller of the Wipptal Valley and as a glaciologist and nature lover.
