On September 30th, 2012 the German Benedikt Böhm from Munich set a new record in the Himalayas. In only 15 hours he climbed the 8.163 metre high Manaslu in Nepal. Starting from base camp he achieves the almost 3.300 metre of altitude to the summit in one run, without artificial oxygen. A few days earlier, at night, an avalanche had torn away the entire camp of another team. How can one deal with the always close triumph and death on the mountain? What is the justification for such a risk? Why is one there?
