Life and death in the mountains, dealing with avalanches, ice, rock, and exhaustion, confrontation with oneself, these have always been topics of a good film story. The famous Austrian actor Harald Krassnitzer re-experiences quasi film shootings of classic mountain films. “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” he follows the footsteps of James Bond and meets Willy Bogner. On the Schilthorn, in the Bernese Oberland, Bogner explains how the spectacular chases on skis have been produced. In the picturesque Swiss mountain village Latsch, Harald Krassnitzer encounters the goat shepherd of the Heidi films, and he even dares to milk a goat. Finally, he climbs on the same rock faces above Innsbruck, where in 1931 Luis Trenker had produced his Alpine war film “Mountains on Fire”, with high losses. The shooting had claimed numerous injured, among them as well the originally foreseen director, who had lost one eye.
