In the late 20th century, Slovakian Himalaya expeditions achieved great successes. In a time of communist staging and state control, the mountaineers faced the same difficulties as other climbing teams. Although they succeeded in pushing the limits beyond the seemingly impossible, they still had to cope with a lot of competition and enormous ambitions within the roped parties when trying to conquer the mountains. There has always existed a thin line between victory and defeat.
