It is hard to believe, but the biggest enemy of brown bears is hunger. In the springtime, when the grizzlies leave their hibernation caves along the Katmai Coast, they have lost one third of their body weight and they are hungry. How do they manage to eat so much in the few summer months that they can survive the winter? Chris Morgan shows us the little and big dramas and the dangers which the bears face during their daily search for food. We see mother bears who protect their cubs against their fellow bears as well as bears, who have developed the necessary resourcefulness and skills to defeat hunger.
