Every year, the Austrian and German ski resorts push the limits of the possible further and further, staging ever bigger events. Large areas are covered with artificial snow, mega concerts are held in the mountains and action parks are set up, in order to attract ever more tourists.
Is there a better alternative? Can a small community in the Berchtesgaden Land subsist on tranquillity?
The Bavarian mountaineering village of Ramsau, at the foot of the Watzmann Mountain, tries to do just this. The focus is not on increasing overnight stays, but on the preservation of nature and on a smart management.
