The Kluane National Park is located in the extreme south west of the Yukon Territory, directly on the border to Alaska. This area is marked by massive mountain ranges, sparse coniferous forests, grasses and wild flowers. Above all, it is dominated by the Kluane Icefield, the second biggest coherent glacier icefield outside of the polar regions. Here, scientists from all over the world and of all disciplines, such as glaciology, geology, biology and climatology, research year upon year. Whereas some of the glaciers retire year upon year, others start to grow dramatically.
