They live on the edge of our known world, the last indigene communities, far away from any civilization, however, affected by its impacts. Before even those last indigene ways of life have to yield to the constantly expanding globalization, the photographer Markus Mauthe has set off to visit them, in order to make visible the beauty of their cultures. His journey leads from the south Sudan and Ethiopia to the sea nomads in Malaysia and to the Indians in the Brazilian Mato Grosso, who have started to defend themselves against the demolition of their living space.
