In 1977 Sir Edmund Hillary led an expedition by jet boat up India's river Ganges and climbed a peak on which he narrowly escaped death. All the living members recall this expedition, that Hillary always said was his lifelong favourite, and recall with deep affection the man himself, Edmund Hillary, born 100 years ago this year.
