In the heart of the Mediterranean island Sardinia, an exceptional species of horses of a mythic origin resist the infamous storms in the sparse wasteland. Those Giara Horses are named after their habitat, the high planes Giara di Gesturi, an island of wilderness on an island in the sea. Only one single human is living up there, the goatherd Porfirio. He knows all horses and wild animals, and they know him. Through his eyes we watch the harsh, savaged and enchanted paradise of the Giara, and the often dramatic cycles of life.
