The bearded vulture is the biggest bird in the Alps and the rarest. It has once been persecuted and hunted and exterminated in the Alpine Region, but, since the 1980s, an international team of scientists have been devoting itself to its resettlement. One of them is Franziska Lörcher. In summer, she lives high up in the Swiss mountains and cares for two young vultures, that were released into the wild in this year. Jordi Canut who runs a feeding station in the Spanish Pyrenees has also taken on the task of looking after these birds. This gives hope, that these sublime birds will find their future new home in Europe again.
