For me, traditional mountaineering is not just doing it alone, but also knowing the history of a mountain, knowing about previous expeditions and being interested in the local culture. According to my understanding, a traditional alpinist goes where he can act on his personal responsibility and does not feel obliged to provide any external guidelines.
