45 Jahre Nanga Parbat Special
Program
In 1976, 45 years ago, the founder of the Mountainfilm Graz festival, Robert Schauer, was a participant in one major expedition. For the first time, alpinists took the path called “Rupalflanke” up the southwest part of the Nanga Parbat. The team around expedition leader Hanns Schell, Robert Schauer and Siegfried Gimpel, will talk about their experiences. They will also commemorate their colleague Hilmar Sturm, who had a deadly accident later on. The Nanga Parbat is one of the most demanding mountains - Reinhold Messner, who lost his brother there after their first traverse in 1970, named it his “mountain of fate”.
