„Boy“ is the film adaption of a short story by the English mountaineering author Niall Grimes. It presents a boulderer trying to climb a lump of rock, but he is constantly failing. He becomes more and more despaired by the problem and he feels held back by memories of his childhood. His strict father has always rebuked him for every failure, as little as it might have been, and thus has damaged his self-confidence. By succeeding on the boulder the climber would like to overcome those memories.
