There is a valley in Afghanistan that has never known war - the Wakhan - a strip of land that unfolds amid high mountains. Here, on the remotest strip of the Pamir highlands live the last remaining Kyrgyz nomads. These Sunni Muslim shepherds who once travelled freely throughout Central Asia now remain isolated over 4,000 meters. For two winter months, a Western woman lives in their camps. She arrives there with great expectations but these are quickly stifled. This film is her discreet glimpse into an unfamiliar world, while remaining a spectator, through her complicity and sensitivity she reveals the fears and hopes of these people who are disregarded by the modern world.
