With opulent pictures, this film portrays the most diverse Austrian border landscapes. Some of them are noisy and highly frequented, others are calm and almost forgotten. These regions count among the most spectacular natural landscapes of Central Europe, such as Lake Neusiedl, the March-Thaya meadows and the Carnic Alps. As well as the high alpine region around the Piz Buin, Lake Constance and the alpine pastures of the borderland between Salzburg and Bavaria. This documentary is also looking for animals which have succeeded in crossing the green borderland in the last centuries or also in the few years since the fall of the Iron Curtain and became or will slowly become “Austrians”. We will also meet extraordinary people in these borderlands, some of them have always been cross-border commuters.
