The small village Rühstädt houses one of Germany’s biggest white stork rookeries. Every summer, almost 40 pairs of these delicate birds breed on the roofs of the only two hundred inhabitants. With their offspring, the congenial flying animals attract approximately 30,000 visitors every year. The remote village makes its living from the bird tourism, however, the stork boom comes at a price. The mass of tourists jam the roads, the roofs crumble and the facades are polluted. Specially fixed cameras deliver surprising and outstanding pictures of the storks’ private life and life struggle, without neglecting the human activities.
