Ecological devastation, lack of snow, the madness of Après-Ski. Alpine ski tourism has been more and more criticized. Though, what could a sustainable ski tourism be like? By train instead of by car, it's possible to reach the Swiss ski resort in the Safien Valley, where they run the worldwide only ski lift with solar energy. Together with an expert of ecological ski tourism, the film team draws a comparison. Is the seemingly more nature-compatible ski tour making really more adapted to the environment than the classical alpine skiing? Furthermore, one has to consider the problem of ski slopes in summer, as the example of Garmisch-Partenkirchen shows drastically. On the Mieminger Plateau in Tyrol, however, it has been introduced a sustainable winter tourism in the last few years, with a surprising success!
