A team of audacious glider pilots and scientists from Berlin and Brandenburg intend to conquer Mount Everest – from the air. They install a special camera under the wing of the high-tech motor glider and put sensors on the pilot’s chest and forehead to measure the lack of oxygen in an altitude of more than 9.000m. They want to create high resolution 3D-models from the Himalaya regions, which are constantly endangered by snow and rock avalanches, in order to support the glacier science, mountain rescuers and the disaster control. The motor glider starts from the airport in the subtropical Pokhara, at the foot of the Annapurna massif, to embark on their adventurous research flights to the highest mountains on earth.
