Hardly any person reaches such a high age as Norman Dyhrenfurth, son of the famous Himalaya expedition leader Günter Dyhrenfurth and the equally famous mountaineer Hettie Dyhrenfurth. In this documentary, the 97-year-old recalls his time as a university professor for film in Los Angeles, as the expedition leader of the first crossing of Mount Everest, and as director and cameraman. He shot “The Eiger Sanction” with Clint Eastwood and he worked as consultant for the originally Austrian Hollywood director Fred Zinnemann for the film “Five Days One Summer” with Sean Connery. Even Marilyn Monroe has visited his lessons on the UCLA Film School in California.
