Bettina Wobst’s film pays homage to the mountain dreams of women, who first dared to venture into the realm of rocks, in hooped skirts, and later more confidently in trousers. With the help of the historian Joachim Schindler, the filmmaker succeeds in giving many forgotten Saxon female climbers a face. But also, many local female alpinists of our time have their say. What drives them to go to the mountains? How do they deal with the risks when they have children? Is the Saxon rock country still a male domain or has the distinction between man and woman on the rock become old-fashioned?
