Saudi Arabia is an untapped climbers’ paradise whose local climbing scene is still in its infancy. Only in the past three years has the sport gained a foothold here. But those who have set eyes on Neom – the country’s north-western region – are at once mesmerised by the breathtaking scenery. Here, Saudi Arabia’s largest climbing area to date is being inaugurated with an international festival, which also provides an opportunity to finally change the West's view of the country.
