The north face of the Laliderer is one of the highest and most significant Alpine faces. And one of the most notorious. It is brittle and crumbles easily, bolts are only used in exceptional cases, and all the climbing routes on this wall are fierce and challenging. Back in the 70s and 80s, Reiner Pickl and Helmut Schmidt knew almost all the routes like the back of their hand; now, with both of them in their sixties, they are revisiting the easiest of them, the Herzogkante.
